The Fascination of Water

The Fascination of Water

It was a cloudy and breezy day in Udaipur; City of Lakes. Winter was about to fall soon in India, which was very unlikely in the month of October. I was bored at home and didn’t know what to do, so asked my Grandpa if he could take me somewhere. He thought for a while and then said, “Sure, but it will be a surprise.”

We then got into the car and started driving. While we were driving, it started raining, so I told my Grandpa: “It’s raining! We should go back.”
“It makes the surprise even better” He replied with a grin. I don’t think he knew that I don’t like water.
When we finally reached the place, I didn’t get out. Instead I waited for a few minutes
for the rain to stop. Then I realized why I came here. I immediately rushed to my
Grandpa’s side, apologizing for being late.

“We are at Fateh Sagar lake,” said my Grandpa. I was upset that my Grandpa
brought me to a Lake. I quickly glanced at it and realized I couldn’t take my eyes off
it. I was expecting some random lake that was dull. But this lake was full of color and
action.
The lake, Fateh Sagar, was beautiful. And with the rain it looked beautiful beyond
words. The lake was glittering, mystical, shapeless, and full of fish. The surface
rippled with the raindrops. I never knew that water could be so magical to a human’s
eyes.

There were tall Aravali mountain range that made everything fit perfectly. The rain was filling the lake up to the brim so fast, if it wasn’t for the lakes mechanic’s that let go of the extra water, it would have over flooded. My Grandpa said to me while I was gazing into the lake, “These rains only usually come once every seven years, with some exceptions. It is not very common, so enjoy it while you can!”

This view inspired me to spend more time in nature. I realize that the world is changing because of pollution, which has removed the view of whole constellations from the sky and has changed our atmosphere completely what it was hundreds of years ago. What might have been common to see in nature then, would be rare to see now, while some still stay the same. Life is very short, the world is ever-changing, and you have to give some time to enjoy nature.
